The Kewaunee Academy of Fine Art, in conjunction with The Linden Centre, is providing an Artist in Residence ( “AIR”) program and Atelier to begin in January 2010 at the Linden Centre in Xizhou, China. The “AIR” program will accommodate up to four professional artists/instructors residing world-wide, for 2-6 months. The Atelier will welcome up to 6 artists to train with one of the professional artists/instructors for 2-6 months. Prospectus for students is also available.

Statistics:

Eligibility: Open to artists residing world-wide

Application type: Portfolio review and biography via CD, and personal interview or telephone interview

Facilities: A 2,000 sq. ft. courtyard, general meeting rooms, ample storage space and unlimited plein air opportunities

Disciplines: Drawing, painting, photography (expanded list in future sessions)

Housing: Private bedroom in two bedroom apartment with center living, kitchen area.

Meals: Most all meals provided at the Centre

Computer/internet access: Provided at the Centre

Companions: Significant others encouraged, small surcharge for meals

Sudent fees
Transportation to Kunming and to the Centre is the responsibility of the student. (Chicago to Kunming is estimated at $1200). Shared ride to the Center is estimated at less than $50 per person.) An appropriate apartment will be provided within walking distance of the Centre and most all meals will be provided at the Centre. Significant others will provide their own transportation and pay a small charge for meals at the Centre.

The student cost for housing and most all meals is $2800 for 8 weeks- $1600 for 4 weeks. Students will be responsible for all travel, food, and accommodations if they take field trips or overnight tours. No rebates for lodging or planned meals are possible.

The Artist in Resident will provide 10 hours a week of instruction, critiques, demonstrations, working with, and assisting up to 6 students.

Each student is requested to donate two art works for permanent display at the Linden Centre and the Kewaunee Academy’s Barnsite Gallery, which may be used for promotion..
